These things will not be in use since there are other technologies that will replace them and yes the ones that will replace will be better ones and will be more efficient.

There were days where the computers were as big as a room, and TVs were as big as a house. However it has changed drastically, and today we have computers that fits our palm and we have devices that well allow to watch TV on demand. Things will change, new technologies will be developing, and yes, eventually, those one who are phasing out will no longer be available in the market.

The USB Thumb Drive
The USB device that has served us many years is one of the device that will eventually fade out and it will be no longer available in the market after few years from now. With the increase of the Speed on the Internet, the files now are available on the demand, from any device that can go online. The Cloud Computing has totally changed the way how we carry our files from one device to other and the way we use those files. With the Storage As A Service we will be able to find the files that we have saved on the could from any where and can be accessed from any devices that can go online.
The Disc/Optical Media
The other media that will phase out from the Market is going to be this one. This is already phasing out. Remember the olden days where we used to go to the stores to rent the movie Discs and used to watch on the Disc Players? Today how many of us do the same?? Even if we do the same, the number has increased by a huge amount. This was with the development of the USB Sticks, where we can write the data "n" number of times, and it will still be working. However it was not the case for the Disc, and back then, the re-writable disc would cost you more money and it was not very comfortable to buy it. So with the USB device coming to picture the Disc slowly started vanishing from the Market.
The Optical Drive
Now with the Optical Media being washed away from teh Market there are no reasons that the computers later will be designed with the Optical Drive. This device from the computer will soon become a Legacy Device. It will be just like the floppy device and the Floppy drive which are no longer available with the computers manufactured these days.
The Hard Drive
After writing much about the devices getting phased out from the market, sooner or later the Hard Disk Drive will also be removed from the computer. Yes it is a possibility that HDD will eventually be removed from the computer. The reason being the same as discussed above. SAAS (Storage As A Service) will eventually be popular, and the computer will simply be a small device with the inbuilt Chip to store the Operating System. This will definitely happen sooner or later. With the new technology in the market called as SSD (Solid State Drive) and eMCC Cards, the concept of the HDD will be eventually also become Legacy.
