Global Cyber Attack.
Yesterday the 12th of May 2017, there was a cyber attack that hit 100 - 150 countries, and around 60,000 infections over these countries. The hackers leveraged Hacking tools that are believed to be developed by the US National Security Agency.
It infected huge companies like the FedEx, disrupted Britain's health system.
The Cyber extortionists tricked victims sending malicious malware attachments to spam emails that appeared to contain invoices, job offers, security warnings and other legitimate files. However when the customers opened these emails, they were hacked, and the personal data were encrypted. There was the message on the screen demanding from $300 to $600 for the recovery of the encrypted data.
Security researchers observed that some victims have even paid via the digital currency bitcoin.
There was attack across the Globe and the Nations like the Russia, Ukraine and Taiwan and the most devastating attack was reported in Great Britain, where the Clinics computers lost access and the patients were send back home.
The security officials said that the Ransom ware was called "WannaCry" which is a new variant which had the ability to spread across the networks by its own. However this also has exploited a known bug in Windows Operating System, and has spread across.
