Error in updating Windows 10

Sometimes the Windows 10 does not download updates, and also it does not install any updates. The Windows 10 is completely different from the other operating systems from the Microsoft. The feature that enables the user to download a offline copy of update and install it later is not an option here in Windows 10. Instead, the Windows 10 uses the Client Server model, where the Windows 10 always stays connected to the server.

The best part about the updates in Windows 10, is that it can update from other PC's as well. This means that the Windows 10 PC can share the Updates to other PC's connected in the same network. This means if only 1 PC is connected to the internet on a network, it still can share updates to other PC's connected on the Network. However the PC can not only share the updates and apps on the network, but also provide updates top the other computers over the internet.

When the Windows 10 does not update correctly and if it is interrupted, then the Windows might not start correctly. Often it does not boot up and shows only the dots going round and round after the computer has started. See here.

Like mentioned above, the Windows 10 does not have an ability to install the updates. Also the Windows always have to be updated, because this is only source where the security patches and the updates will be installed in the system.

When the updates are not getting installed, follow these steps to crash the computer and go to the Safe Mode, however if you already have internet connection, you could choose to go to the SMWN.

Once the computer is in Safe Mode, follow these steps to perform the updates.
  • Type services.msc in the RUN and click ok.
  • Find the service that says Windows Update and stop it.
  • Next, find the Background Intelligence Transfer Service, and Cryptographic Service

  •  Once you have stopped the services, now to the windows directory "C:/Windows"
  • Delete the folder with the name "Software Distribution"
  • Now find the folder "System32" and open it.
  • Rename the folder "Catroot2" to "Catroot2old"
  • Now check for updates, and this time we should be able to download and install the updates.
