- Type services.msc in the RUN and click ok.
- Find the service that says Windows Update and stop it.
- Next, find the Background Intelligence Transfer Service, and Cryptographic Service
- Once you have stopped the services, now to the windows directory "C:/Windows"
- Delete the folder with the name "Software Distribution"
- Now find the folder "System32" and open it.
- Rename the folder "Catroot2" to "Catroot2old"
- Now check for updates, and this time we should be able to download and install the updates.
