How to fix Google Chrome hardware acceleration Issue | Google Chrome Hardware Issue Fixed

Though the hardware acceleration in Google Chrome is a huge benefit when it comes to quality browsing, however it has been noted that Google Chrome does not perform better when the hardware is enabled.

The GPU enabled Chrome notably does not perform well when it comes to watching videos and browsing the internet. When compared to the test results of the GPU enabled Google Chrome with the one where the GPU was not enabled, the later one seems actually to perform better and seems to be more reliable.

The GPU enabled browser supposedly should work better, however with the recent updates launched for Google Chrome does not perform well. If you want Chrome to perform best make sure your Hardware Acceleration in Chrome is disabled.

Here are the steps how to disable or enable the hardware acceleration in Chrome browser.

• From the menu option select "Settings". 
• Scroll down and select the “Advanced” option, or just put "hardware" in the search bar. 
• Toggle “Use hardware acceleration when available” on or off as desired by sliding the slider right or left. 

Alternatively, you could also make changes to Registry to have it changed.

Open Run by holding the "Windows key" and "R" together.

Type “regedit“, and press "Enter"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\

Create the folders if they do not exist.

Right-click on “Chrome” and select “New” > “DWORD 32-bit value“
name the value as “HardwareAccelerationModeEnabled“
Set the value to “0” to disable Hardware Acceleration and “1” to enable it.
