How to fix slow computer after windows updates?

When ever there is a major update on the Windows computer, it generally slows down the performance of the computer. Also this does not happen for every other Windows computer. As a percentage, almost 20% of the computer go through this.

So, how to fix the issue? and how to make the computer faster after the major Windows update. Here, lets look into why this problem is caused.

To understand why the computer slows down, first lets discuss, how the windows updates work?

So, in Windows there are two folders where actually updates are downloaded to. These two folders are located in the Windows directory and is not always allowed to access by the user.

%windir%\System32\catroot2

%systemdrive%\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

Each of the folders mentioned above helps the computer to update and to store the update files downloaded from the Windows Update server.

Here are the steps to follow after the computer has updated to the next version of the Windows.
  • Start the disk clean up by typing it on the Cortana box.
  • Once the cleanmgr.exe started up
  • Click on the "Clean up system files".
  • Select all the check boxes that appears on the list, and click 'Ok'.
  • This will take long time depending on the size of the cleanup the computer is doing.
Once the clean up is completed, here comes the important part. Please ensure to rebuild the Windows Updates links, by just checking for updates after the clean up performed.
