icloud Sync error with Outlook in Windows 10

The iCloud and the Outlook seems to have some trouble communicating and syncing the files, contacts, Photos, and bookmarks. This issue is noted mostly in Windows 10 computer, with the Ms Office 2016 and 2013 installed on it.



After logging into the iCloud and trying to sync, the iCloud throws error saying that "Setup cannot continue because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile. Check your Outlook and try again."

Various steps have been tried and still the issue remains to be the same. Here are the following steps that you might want to try to get the issue resolved.

  • Remove the Microsoft office using the Office Removal Tool
  • Restart the computer after the Office is removed.
  • Remove the iCloud from the computer and restart the computer.
  • You may also restart the computer after removing the Office and iCloud from the computer.
  • Reinstall the Ms office and the iCloud on the computer.
  • Try syncing the iCloud and the Outlook this time, and it should be working this time.

However if you still experience the same issue, then, here are the few different steps, that you might have to follow.
  • Right click on the 'icloud.exe' file.
  • Click on Properties.
  • Click on the Compatibility tab.
  • Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box.
  • Click on the drop down menu arrow and select Windows 8.1.
  • Note : The iCloud and Outlook will sync only in Widows 8.1 compatibility mode.
  • You will also have to change the Privilege Level of the program by checking the box that says Run this program as an administrator box.
  • Now, click on OK to apply the changes.
  • Now, double click on the 'icloud.exe' file. This time should definitely sync, without any errors.
